~Samantha Phillippi ( AKA Miss Mankato 2010 who was named 2nd runner-up at Miss Minnesota that year ) was crowned Miss Coon Rapids 2012.
~ Madison Guhlke is representing Mankato as Miss Mankato's Outstanding Teen 2012 and will compete this March for the title of Miss Minnesota's Outstanding Teen.
~Natalie Davis was our Miss Mankato 2011 as she went on to the title of Miss Minnesota 2011 she also won Preliminary Swimsuit, Preliminary Talent, and Miss America Community Service awards. At Miss America she was one of the 8 semi finalist in the Quality of Life award.
~Kiah Bennett is our reigning Miss Mankato 2012 who will compete for the title of Miss Minnesota 2012 this June.

The Minnesota Vikings Training Camp in Mankato is an EXPERIENCE! Miss Minnesota was there making sure the attendees all had a chance to try Angie's Kettle Corn. She was amazed at all the autographs she signed...from hats, trophies, horns, jerseys, ( check out all the Peterson #28 jerseys Natalie was signing) over 2000 signed up for a lottery to get an AP autograph and only about 150 were chosen. WOW.. AP stayed and signed all of them. He was very nice and happy to meet Miss Minnesota. All 8 running backs we given an extra big bag of Angie's Kettle corn. The crowd was yelling each Vikings name hoping to get an autograph...eventually we heard "Miss Minnesota" "Miss Minnesota can I have your autograph?" It is really fun to see all the happy faces on many of the little girls and boys, young and old alike!
Fun day for all! Thank you Angie's Kettle Corn for your support of the Miss Mankato and Miss Minnesota organizations! You are so SWEET & Salty!

Chandra Dahlke who represented Mankato at Miss Minnesota's Outstanding Teen pageant was available and did an AMAZING job. She educated the members about her platform and spoke about her positive experience she had at The Miss Minnesota's Outstanding Teen pageant. Miss Mankato had a busy Saturday with 3 appearances all in the same day.
Thank you ! to The American Bikers for Awareness, Training, and Education (A.B.A.T.E.) of Minnesota Parade. ABATE is a not for profit, grass roots organization that is committed to educating motorcyclists and the general public about motorcycling. In turn they allow our Miss Mankato Scholarship Program to serve them Hot Dogs after the parade in turn for support to our program. Natalie had her first Motorcycle ride ever! 200 Hot Dogs in 40 minutes...WOW!
Then it was off to MACS NITE, Mankato area catholic schools fundraiser. A Mankato community celebration! Natalie had another first...hearing an auction and being auctioned off!. She and Brad Steel from HOT967 were auctioned off as hosts for a picnic in a LIVE auction. Natalie entertained the crowd with 4 vocal selections. I was overwhelmed by the crowd and their positive comments! Impressive performance!

This Saturday February 12, our Miss Mankato 2011 has committed to grin and "bear" it for the athletes of Special Olympics Minnesota by participating in the Polar Bear Plunge. Year after year, Miss Mankato makes the jump wearing their crown as they take the plunge! She will be escorted by Jeff Lang AKA Stunt Monkey from HOT967. They are team Beauty and the Beast.
I know — you're probably getting cold just thinking about it! But the cold that they will feel is only temporary; the positive impact they'll have on the lives of over 7,000 Special Olympics Minnesota athletes with intellectual disabilities will last a lifetime!
Make a donation to Special Olympics Minnesota on behalf of Beauty and the Beast taking the Plunge. Any amount would be appreciated — it all goes to a wonderful cause.

Saturday was also the big day for lunch with Miss Mankato that was purchased in a silent auction for Ethan Rittmiller a 9 year old who needs a heart transplant. The winner was 5 year old Arian who invited her 3 year old brother Amos along for lunch and fun games at the WOW Zone. Not sure who had more fun the kids or Miss Mankato!!

Samantha had so much FUN at North Mankato Fun Days Parade! It is the biggest parade in southern Minnesota, thousands attend from all over the area. Samantha was so amazed to see so many people she knew from work, school, appearances, and sponsors of the Miss Mankato Program. Thank you to Radio Mankato for teaming up with Miss Mankato each year. The Miss Mankato Program loves HOT 967's Brad, Stunt and Sarah, KTOE'S Don and Red the parade driver to the 2011 red Corvette with only 8 miles on it. Nicest car in the parade just for Miss Mankato!!! Thanks Mankato Motors!

I met a COURAGEOUS young man today!
Ethan is pictured to my left with his brother Sam and his friends. They were at the Applebees door egar to greet everyone who attended the Mankato Applebees Pancake Fundraiser.
Today was about a community coming together for an adorable 9 year old and his family. Ethan Rittmiller is a young man who was diagnosed with restrictive cardiomyopathy on March 25th of this year, meaning his heart cannot stretch to fill with blood properly. He is in need of a new heart.
I wanted to go and show my support and thank everyone for attending. I was amazed at what a community can do when they come together. Family, co-workers, friends, and even strangers came out to show support for Ethan and his family. Thank you to Applebees in Mankato, host to the Pancake fundraiser,all the volunteers, and the GENEROUS donations and bidders on the silent auction. So many acts of kindness made a difference for Ethan.
Please pray for Ethan and his family as they go through this emotional journey.

The last two weeks have been very busy and so much fun! I have been working my platform " Dance This Weigh" throughout the Mankato and St. Peter area.

I had ten minutes after a class in St.Peter to get to a KEYC TV appearance was last Thursday, THANKS for having me on Lisa with KEYC TV.

Next I was off to help with "Feed My Starving Children" I really enjoyed helping out and enjoyed spending time with Brooke, Bethany and Kathryn.

Thank you to CoCo & Chloe for being sponsors and for putting on a Fashion Show with a portion of their sales going to CMN! I had so much fun.
I contributed a little by purchasing a few adorable things!

I had heard from Jennifer Miss Mankato/ Miss MN 2007 and Kelsey Miss Mankato 2009 that MACS Nite was fun...but I had no idea how fun!!! WOW!
First I was able to meet and greet many people of the Mankato community. I was amazed at the familiar faces from other appearances. Next I was part of the entertainment for the evening, performing both Roxy and my Miss MN talent piece. There was a Silent and Live auction. I took part in a BBQ for 20 along with your choice of us local celebrities!! $1800 was the final bid for the picnic with us! Prior to a game called Heads or Tails I was able to lead the crowd with The Cupid Shuffle, so far the biggest crowd to Dance This Weigh with me!!Father Tim new it the best! MACS Goes Hollywood was the perfect opportunity to be Maryln!
Thank you to everyone who came out and supported MACS Nite! This was a very fun event that will support the education of many students!

I had a great day Tuesday working with a few classes of high school students. These classes were made possible through Project G.E.M. which stands for Growth, Experience, and Motivation,it is a local non-profit organization in Mankato, which serves many counties in the state.. The program offers a wide variety of outreach services which focus on education for positive mind, body, and soul development.It is an outreach program for at-risk youth to enhance positive creative self-expression using cultural, environmental, and holistic/social education.
My platform " Dance This Weigh" can be so receptive in any class room!
I taught elementary through high school age students about the importance of staying physically active and how dance is a great way to stay fit. We danced the "Cupid Shuffle" and ended the class period discussing the Miss Mankato program. We were so active all day! I'm anxious to visit my next school!

Due to the Project GEM Code of Confidentiality no pictures were taken. Trust me, had you been able to see pictures...nothing but laughter and smiles were heard and seen as we DANCED THIS WEIGH.

She had the most ad pages purchased for the Miss Minnesota program, winning the honor of picking her contestant order(she was feeling lucky #15)and she also won her talent dress!! Samantha, Miss Mankato and Molly, Miss Waseca Sleigh and Cutter will be roommates for the 2010 Miss Minnesota pageant in June. The Law Enforcement family came together for Ashlyn Bennett on April 11. I was there to help wherever I could. 1st I was in charge of the guest book. Enjoyed being able to meet and thank everyone for attending. 2nd I enjoyed the spaghetti dinner. 3rd I met Nan! She came up to me and said she just saw me at the Setoma Awards banquet Friday night. She said it is so nice to see me at so many of the Mankato events. She said my kicks are really high too! What a nice lady!
4th I had my picture with the guest of honor. Ashlyn has a rare neurological disorder called Rhetts Syndrome. She is a Gillette Angel. Please pray for her.

Sertoma Clubs Annual Award Banquet

Friday,April 9th,2010 was the Sertoma Clubs annual Service To Mankind Award Banquet held in Mankato. Miss Mankato was a honored guest at at the head table, spoke on volunteerism, and after dinner sang and danced to entertain the more than 100 guests in attendance. The Service to Mankind Award is the highest honor Sertoma can bestow on a nonmember, it is for outstanding volunteer service to the community and is awarded to those who make a significant contribution to those in need.

Ralph Ireland was presented by Key City Sertoma Club and Melinda Wedzina was presented by Mankato Sertoma Club.

On behalf of the Miss Mankato Scholarship Organization,Samantha presented the recipients with an engraved frame.

This was a senior high school project organized and produced by Alexandra Floren, a Miss Mankato SCHOLARSHIP Program contestant this past year! A huge SUCCESS, A + if I was her teacher! Fashions by Herbergers and Tuxes by Tip Top Tux Carrow's Formal Wear(a Miss Mankato sponsor). Live manikins before and after the show was a favorite!

An beautiful girl named Clair was on her dad shoulders next to us, she was commentating on the fashions..she was amazing! She knows her fashion! Future MISS AMERICA I hope!

Miss Mankato served judge Carol Molnau our Lt. Governor of Minnesota her Chili, along with additional judges Bukata Hayes( 1 of her judges from Miss Mankato 2010) plus Brad Steele and Nicole Winters ( both Miss Mankato 2010 hosts) The Chilifest raised over $16,000 for Minnesota Rett Syndrome Research Association and The Mankato Veterans Memorial Place.

Samantha was able to serve the judges, meet and greet thousands of people, sign autographs, and even serve up some of Shelly's Chili! ( We got 10 people's choice award votes! must have been my secret ingredient..a crown on the server!)
